If somebody had told me that the president will give in to the pressure from his own party to pardon the montie trio, I would have just jokingly reply ” I don’t think far” but I wish it’s a dream now. The president has remitted the sentences of the convicted montie trio. Yes this is clear flexing of executive muscle to show the other arms that all rest on the powers of the executive
Mr. President please on which grounds were their sentences remitted? I don’t want to believe it’s because one of the trio openly said he’s working for you. As for the so called petition I don’t want to go there Mr. President. Is Mr. President telling us that whenever our loved ones are convicted, we should go round collecting signatures to send them to you for pardon?
I empathize with the innocent souls languishing in jail right now, those whose dockets are missing, those who are wrongfully convicted, those who have been on remand for so many years… Don’t they also deserve your mercy? Or we should go round for signatures before you can act? And To those who advised you that the sentences were hash, am sure they were not in Ghana when the same judges ruled in your favor during the infamous election petition case. What is good for the goose should certainly be good for the gander .
Mr. President I want to end by reminding you of a portion of the presidential oath you took when you were taking office just in case you’ve forgotten “that I will be faithful and true to the Republic of Ghana; that I will at all times preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the Republic of Ghana; and that I dedicate myself to the service and well-being of the people of the Republic of Ghana and to do right to all manner of persons”.
Just a quick reminder Mr. President Republic of Ghana is not NDC.
Came again Mr. President, you’ve lost this one…
